Koffee’s ‘Rapture’ among five nominations for reggae Grammy Awards

‘Rapture’, the five-song EP by teenage sensation Koffee, ‘More Work To Be Done’ by Third World, and Steel Pulse’s  ‘Mass  Manipulation’ are among the five nominations in the Grammy reggae category.

More than 100 entries were submitted.

It is Koffee’s first nomination and the 12th for Sly and Robbie, with their album, The Final Battle: Sly & Robbie vs Roots Radics.   

Their album, Friends, won in 1998.For Steel Pulse, who received their first nomination in 1982 for the album, Reggae Sunsplash ’81, A Tribute To Bob Marley (Best Ethnic or Traditional Folk Recording category), this is their ninth. Steel Pulse won the Grammy with Babylon the Bandit in 1986.

Third World has secured its ninth with More Work To Be Done, produced by three-time Grammy-winner Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley. It was released in August. Third World has never won the Grammy.

The other album nominated  in the category is As I Am by Julian Marley, who was previously nominated in 2009 for Awake

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards takes place on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

It will recognise the best recordings, compositions and artistes of the  year running from October 1, 2018, to August 31, 2019.
